Newborn Photography is so special

The literal first professional photos of your child -- how precious is that? There's a few ways to go about newborn photography, and my style definitely resides in what's called "lifestyle newborn photography". Lifestyle newborn photos are much more natural, focusing on the family together with their new member (as well as solo portraits of the baby, of course). It often takes place in the new parents' home, in their choice of nursery, living room, master bedroom, backyard, etc.

Lifestyle newborn photography is quite different than posed newborn photography, which is where the baby is neatly posed in a studio and retouched to give a "perfect" appearance. If that is the kind of newborn photography you are looking for, unfortunately I'm not the right person for you. But if you do gravitate towards the natural, lifestyle vibe - keep scrolling!

How I work

My approach to newborn photography

Newborn photography can be tricky. Let's be honest, the parents are sleep-deprived, the baby is on and off crying or hungry, etc. If we can push that aside for a moment, it's clear that it is such a BEAUTIFUL time as well. I like to bring that attitude to the photoshoots, and go with the flow in terms of accepting how the baby is feeling instead of working against them. My strategy is that I always get the solo portraits of the baby when they're in their best mood; whether that be sleeping, or awake & smiley. When the baby is upset or crying, I'm still able to capture detail photographs of their little hands & feetsies, as well as a lot of family photos. So instead of trying to come in with a set plan of which photos to do when, I find it much better to have an open mind and create some memories that are authentic and beautiful.

Testimonials

Breanna T.

I don't even know where to begin...Jennifer was absolutely amazing and exceeded my expectations. I reached out to her to schedule my daughter's infant photoshoot and she responded immediately to my request. She was super friendly and communicative and responded quickly to all of my messages. The photos were absolutely amazing and were even better than I had expected! We have definitely found our new family photographer, thanks again Jennifer!

My Process

Step 1

Fill out my contact form on the "Contact" page of this website to get the process started! I'll respond within 24 hours and we'll get to talking more about your vision and what you want from the session.

Step 2

Once you decide to officially book with me (yay, I can't wait!), I simply require a signed contract and 20% retainer. This locks in my commitment to photographing your newborn session. We'll finalize details such as the location, date, & timing of the session.

Step 3

Now that we're official, it's time for the fun part - the photoshoot! I come prepared with all my gear and lighting. You'll prepare by cleaning the space you want photographed of any clutter, and ideally feeding the baby shortly before my arrival.

Step 4

After the session, I get straight to work on editing those beautiful photos. I send a Sneak Peek gallery 24-72 hours after the session to ensure you can admire & share some images as soon as possible. Your final gallery takes 2-4 weeks to be delivered, but it will be well worth the wait. Our journey together has officially come to a close, for now. Don't worry - it's not goodbye, it's see you later!
